Dr. Efraín Farías-Cisneros obtained his General Medicine Doctor Degree issued by La Salle University’s Mexican Faculty of Medicine, Mexico City, in 2006. He completed his residency in Orthopedics at the Hospital Español de México, Mexico City. Later, he completed a two-year Certification Program and High Medical Specialty Course on Hand Surgery at the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación (Mexican Ministry of Health), after which he completed the Clinical Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.


He possesses a Master Degree in Medical Sciences, and is also a Ph. D. student on Medical Sciences, part of the Master and Doctorate Program on Medical, Odontological, and Health Sciences, Division of Postgraduate and Research Studies of the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).


Dr. Farías has several publications in scientific journals, and is coauthor of three book chapters. He has presented more than twenty free papers, as oral and poster presentations. Additionally, he has participated as professor in several workshops, courses and congresses in Mexico and abroad.


A Hand Surgeon with expertise on comprehensive approach to upper extremity trauma, congenital, degenerative and rheumatic pathophysiology. His training field includes upper extremity fractures, from clavicle to phalanges; sport-related and degenerative injuries of shoulder, arm, elbow and proximal radioulnar joint, forearm, as well as radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints at the wrist.


He approved the BLS, ACLS, ATLS, basic and advanced AO fracture treatment and basic AOspine courses. He has been AO-Mexico Faculty on Hand Surgery. He also has courses on microsurgery, microvascular flaps, research methodology, proteomics and genomics. He is a regular attendee and lecturer in national and international congresses. Among his medical affiliations is worth to mention SICOT Associate Member, Bronze Member AO Trauma, Sociedad Mexicana de Cirugía de la Mano y Microcirugía (Mexican Society of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery) Permanent Member, American Society for Surgery of the Hand International Member, Asociación Argentina de Cirugía de la Mano y Reconstructiva del Miembro Superior (Argentinian Asociation of Hand and Reconstructive Surgery of the Upper Extremity), and Kleinert Society. He is certified by the Mexican Orthopedics and Traumatology Board (Consejo Mexicano de Ortopedia y Traumatología, A. C.)
